So… about that writing stuff… (Day 1)
There was a point when I was going to participate in the 20 Days of WoW Blogging Challenge, and I even started writing out a post or two, and then… then I just got kind of tired of WoW. I just got tired of writing about it, or moreso, writing for this imaginary audience that didn’t exist. I wanted to make sure I said the right things, and wasn’t offensive, and was absolutely, 100% correct. And the truth is, I should write whatever I want and if there will be readers, the readers will come.
But for some reason or another, this is a more difficult concept to grasp. I guess I remember some “back in the day” moments when I used to just write for the sake of writing. And I did a helluva lot of it. Over time the comments just came, naturally, as is how things like that go. I’m much less angsty (though not always), much more opinionated, and still really wordy. I guess I just miss the writing for the sake of writing feeling. So I think it’s about time to get back to that. Write about what I feel like writing about regardless of what the current topic of discussion happens to be.
So I’ll start with that Introduction post. Maybe I’ll stick around and write about other things here and there. We’ll see. So here goes.
Day 1: Introduce Yourself
I’m Lee. My mother is Korean and my father is white. Lots of European stuff mixed in there, but in particular Polish, Welsh, Lithuanian and Irish. I’m actually American though. No accent. I don’t speak another language (other than a small bit of conversational American Sign Language and Spanish). My best friend lives 1937 miles away from me, so we blow each other’s phones up with text messages and epic phone calls every 6 months. I live in Northern California where there is a lot of farming, poverty, meth, and socio-economic hardships. I love my cat more than words and don’t care if people consider me one of those “cat lady” types. We lack an Olive Garden, Ikea and a Best Buy nearby. This is a tragedy, in case you couldn’t tell.
I am a Democrat, but not a socialist. I have my bachelor’s degree in Psychology, which has proven immensely useful in a hundred ways that don’t involve my getting paid much at a better job (which is what they all promised would happen if I got an education, right?). I’m also not at all bitter about this (/sarcasm). I am sarcastic. Often a Negative Nancy, though I’ve been a hundred times better since I quit that really crappy job. I have many opinions, but I keep a decent number of them to myself. Others I share freely. I am often told I’m wise beyond my years but I feel like there is so much more for me to learn. I applied for grad school and am terrified I won’t get in.
I love Apple’s mobile products, but cannot justify the exorbitant expense for their computers. I am a technology junkie. I spend too much time being distracted by things on the internet. Kurn is the reason why I started playing WoW in the first place, which is it’s own (albeit short) story. I played briefly during Vanilla, but couldn’t stand the game and how different it was from Everquest (as I was still very actively playing EQ). I picked the game back up again during Burning Crusade where Kurn and Daey played alts to quests with me until I leveled. Kurn also rallied the troops (Tiandrina may or may not remember this) to help me get my warlock (who used to be a gnome), Mailynn, get her epic firey horse mount. I quit WoW for some reason or another just before Wrath of the Lich King came out. But I came back during Wrath to level a Death Knight, who became my first level 80. Then I made a druid, Alliance side, on Area 52, which is (was?) a very Horde heavy server. Mostly this was for Wintergrasp purposes. 20 Tenacity… yes please! The love affair began there. I loved Hestiah. Love her. Always.
Outside of WoW and gaming in general, I had been a pretty big blogger back in the day (many many years ago, since I am very old). I love writing and have participated in NaNoWriMo many times, winning 5 (or was it 4?) times. One of these days I would love to try to write (or edit) a novel and get published. That would be amazing!
I think that’s about the most interesting stuff. Wanna know more, don’t hesitate to ask on twitter or in the comments.
