Day 1: A Personal Challenge Begins
I keep making these promises to myself that I will blog more often, but I break them immediately after writing a blog post saying that I’m going to write more often. I get far too caught up in the “It needs to be perfect!”‘s and “Why would anyone read this anyway?”‘s that I end up not writing anything at all. My drafts are still more in number than my published blog posts. I thought about setting myself a challenge to write daily for a month. February would have been the perfect month because it has so few days, but I missed it by a couple of days.
Then I was talking about it on twitter and a few others read it and thought similarly. So the WoW Blog 30 Challenge began. Admittedly, I’ll probably fail, and I’ve embraced that bit. I’m also unlikely going to fulfill the 10/30 posts being WoW-related bit either. But I will do my best to do some writing. I figure some interesting school-related stuff, some general gaming-related stuff, and some crafting-related stuff.
Things I need to be better about, going forward for the next 30 days:
- Writing down ideas as they pop up… you know, just in case it becomes a good blog post of some kind.
- Committing to spending the time to blog something every day, even if it’s basically crap (you mean like this first day post?? yup, just like this).
- Set aside my perfection fairy and realize that you become a better writer when you write more, and you gain readers by writing consistently.
- Make a schedule and commit to it. I need to remember to set aside some time every day just for writing in the challenge.
So on that note… here goes… to another 29 days of blogging!! And good luck to those who are also participating! We got dis guise!
